The best way to describe Oak Ford Gold Club is that of a public Country Club.
The term "Country Club" began in the developmental stages of golf in America. The game of golf was a retreat to the country away from the city and urban sprawl. Courses used the terrain and natural setting of the land by carving the fairways from the trees.
Oak Ford Golf Club is located away from downtown for a reason… how many 850 acre nature preserves are located downtown? We are 8 miles from I-75, in the country; 20 minutes from Downtown Sarasota.
We are open to the public and we're not a prestigious "Country Club" we are in the country & we've got at club… but we are casual and we have fun. So, get away from it all....
Experience a real Country Club
Oak Ford Golf Club, a Florida Country golf course, is part of an 850 acre nature preserve. Designed by world class Architect, Ron Garl, the three 9-hole courses wind through Live Oak, Myrtle, and Palm Forests skirting ponds, swamps and marshes.
All levels of play are challenged in a mix of doglegs, tight impenetrable woodland borders, and wetland carries. The emphasis at Oak Ford is based on skill over raw power.
Distractions at Oak Ford include Deer, Bobcats, Otters, Foxes, Alligators, Possums, Wild Pigs, and the occasional Florida Black Bear. Prepare to come face-to-face with Sandhill Cranes as tall as you, plus varieties of Hawks and Native Birds.

Oak Ford Golf Club's 27-holes bring water into play 16 times, with 'carries' required on 7 occasions. Each 9-Hole Course plays from four sets of tees.
The Gold Tees are a truly strong challenge for top players where accuracy is considered more important than distance. The Blue Tees provide a balance of birdie opportunities and consequences to keep better players in line. The White Tees create a truly enjoyable round of golf, but in no way compromise the game.
Top players have commented that power from the White Tees results in more penalty situations than playing from the Blues or Golds. The Red Tees, like the Whites, soften the distance without discounting the challenge and enjoyment of a great golf course.
